Spring Boot - DataSource from JNDI: NoInitialContextException: Need to specify class name in environment or system property

I am relatively new to web apps with spring boot so bear with me.
Problem When I run my spring boot app I get

The line Failed to look up JNDI DataSource with name 'jdbc/spring-jdbc-test' gives me suspicions that the app runs on its own tomcat server and not the one that I have installed.
The app starts on tomcat 8.5.23 as configured in my pom (see below)

I just ironed out this issue in Tomcat 9. What you have looks fine, and is just missing two things from what worked for me:
a #Resource annotation in your Spring Configuration. Something like:

I have a problem with my simply Spring Boot Application. It doesn't start. I'm using IntelliJ Idea Community Edition, and Tomcat v.8.5. I don't know where the problem is. Here it's a log:

issue is occur because spring-hateoas dependency is missing into you project pom.xml, you need to add spring-hateoas dependency into you pom.xml. and update and rebuild your project and run it.
you can use below dependency:

I have also faced with the same issue and the root cause was related to missing dependency. The issue was not related to Spring boot starter. So, I have simply tried to add one more dependency which can work fine with your JSTL

and this list is injected despite of error ( I log list values it in #PostConstruct method ), but then it fails with above exception.

it works fine without sleuth.

Spring service will not start

Working on a basic Spring REST service, but I seem to have a problem with running the service due to JDBC.

The code in the tutorial you are following is not using Spring Boot, yet you are for some reason. SpringApplication.run creates its own application context, which might be the source of your problems. Either use Spring Boot and don't create the application context manually or create it manually as illustrated in the tutorial and don't use Spring Boot.
If you wish to use Spring Boot, you should modify your code like this:
1) Remove the manual application context creation from your main class

2) Define your data source using Spring boot properties file (src/main/resources/application.properties) and get rid of Beans.xml:

3) Modify your CustomerJDBCTemplate like this:
