Getting dismissed notification id - java

My app creates a notification and an item in a Data Base with that id.
When the user dismiss the notification I want to get that notification id, and using it to perform a research in the Data Base. I already have a pending Intent that allows me to know when a notification is dismissed.
The broadcast Reciever:

You need to set the notificationId you are using to show notfication in the intent passed to pending intent.

Extra null for Android Notification with PendingIntent

I am trying to send a int Extra to an Activity when a notification is tapped. When I tap the notification the activity launches, but the extra is always null.
I have checked a lot of similar questions but they haven't helped me solve the problem. (I tried using onNewIntent() but it was never called). How can I successfully send the Extra?

This is onCreate method from EventActivity:

I would guess that it's because you have capitalized the word "id" differently when putting vs getting the extra; compare:
nextIntent.putExtra("Id", (long) id);
// ^^^^
vs
long id = intent.getLongExtra("id", 0);
// ^^^^
Try using the same capitalization for both.

How to know when push is opened; Azure Push Notifications Notification Hub?

I have implemented push notifications using Azure's Notification Hub. I have noticed that they only have three override methods when extending NotificationHandler:
public void onReceive(Context context, Bundle bundle)
public void onUnregistered(Context context, String gcmRegistrationId)
public void onRegistered(Context context, String gcmRegistrationId)
Most push notification services have an onPushOpen() or onOpen() callback method which is called when a user presses on the push notification they received. How do I know when someone has clicked on the received push notification? I am experimenting with the demo. Everything works minus the concern I have said.

For anyone else trying to figure this out, it is actually pretty simple. In the sendNotification() method, whatever information you want to keep track of when the push notification is opened add it as extras to your intent. For example.

Now that you have done this. In onResume() check for that information. It will be empty (null) when push notification is not invoked, otherwise, it will have your information.

When user taps on the push notification message, my app launches. How to make the app display the push message in full?

And retrieve this values inside your MainActivity via getIntent();

Cancel notification not working

I want to cancel/delete the notification after I click the addAction.
However it's not working. The notification is still there after the click.
I'm pretty sure this worked in an other project.
Can anyone see a stupid error I made, why its not working?

Solution:
In test activity OnCreate added this:
NotificationManager notificationManager
= (NotificationManager) getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
notificationManager.cancel(0);
If you decided to use Test activity to receive the intent of your addAction call, then you must cancel notification when you receive the intent in the activity.
I also recommend that you add requestCode for the intent.

Notification tap event without showing an activity?

I want to assign an event that will fire when a notification is being tapped on, without showing an activity (like explained here).
How can I do that?
You can do this by registering a Broadcast Receiver. This way, you can run code in the receiver when your notification is clicked, without showing any UI whatsoever if you want.
Basic receiver code:
