We are facing a weird error. When we first srtart the server we can login etc. After a few hours of inactivity we cannot login anymore. We can solve the problem by restarting the application, but it will occur at least one time each day. To restart the application is only a shortterm solution and we need to find a more stable solution to this a critical problem.
I am using the following configuration:
Environment
Hibernate : 5.2.13
JPA : spring-boot-starter-data-jpa (1.5.10)
JDK version : 1.8.0_191
Database : Mysql (version 5.7.25)
JDBC Driver : 5.1.45
Spring Boot : 1.5.10
OS : Ubuntu 16.04.6
Hikari
HikariCP version: 2.7.7
datasource:
type: com.zaxxer.hikari.HikariDataSource
driver-class-name: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
url: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/<database>?useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=utf8&useSSL=false

password: <secret password>
hikari:
data-source-properties:
cachePrepStmts: true
prepStmtCacheSize: 250
prepStmtCacheSqlLimit: 2048

I really don't know how to trigger this issue manually after a restart so we have to wait a few hours before this state kicks in.
It seems that we are not the only one having this issue, but after days without solving it, it's a bit frustrating.
We need to solve this soon, any ideas?
I found a solution to our problem. It seemed like the configuration we did in the yaml file didn't work properly so I had to configure the HikariCP programmatically.
I removed the configuration for hikari in the yaml file and afterwards the datasource looked like:
datasource:
type: com.zaxxer.hikari.HikariDataSource
And the datasource config looks the following:
#Configuration
public class DatasourceConfiguration {
private static final Logger log = LoggerFactory.getLogger(DatasourceConfiguration.class);
private final Environment env;
public DatasourceConfiguration(Environment env) {
this.env = env;
}
#Bean(name="primaryDatasource")
#Primary
#ConfigurationProperties(prefix="spring.datasource")
public DataSource dataSource() {
HikariConfig config = new HikariConfig();
config.setDriverClassName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
config.setPoolName("JPAHikariCP");
config.setAutoCommit(false);
config.setConnectionTestQuery("SELECT 1");
String profile = env.getProperty("spring.profiles.active");
Optional<String> db = Optional.of("database");
Optional<String> username = Optional.of("user");
Optional<String> password = Optional.of("pass");
if("test".equals(profile) || "dev".equals(profile)) {
config.addDataSourceProperty("cachePrepStmts", true);
config.addDataSourceProperty("prepStmtCacheSize", 250);
config.addDataSourceProperty("prepStmtCacheSqlLimit", 2048);
config.addDataSourceProperty("useServerPrepStmts", true);
}
config.setJdbcUrl(String.format("jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/%s?useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=utf8&useSSL=false", db.get()));
config.setUsername(username.get());
config.setPassword(password.get());
return new HikariDataSource(config);
}
}
And now it works.

I would like to test on my system if the database is down with Spring Boot. I have written a rest call for testing. When the database is up, it return "test" which is correct result. But the database is down, it return nothing.
The Goal is to make it to return "test" even the database is down. Below is the error

Do you mean during the startup of Spring or while the application is running?
Your RestController currently does not access the DB so I fail to see how the DB connection could result in errors and if the DB is down the controller should return "Test".
If you mean during startup you can try:
spring.datasource.continue-on-error=true
Check that the hostname and port are correct and that the postmaster
is accepting TCP/IP connections.
Check that the hostname and port are correct and that the postmaster is accepting TCP/IP connections.
Cause of error if Caused by: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: Connection to X:X:X:X:xxxx refused. Check that the hostname and port are correct and that the postmaster is accepting TCP/IP connections.
Please make sure the database host and port in your application.properties file are mentioned and are correct and also the database instance is up and running in mentioned host.
I have following configuration in application.properties:
spring.datasource.url=jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432/demodb
spring.datasource.username=postgres
spring.datasource.password=password
spring.session.store-type=jdbc
spring.session.jdbc.initialize-schema=always
spring.jpa.show-sql=true
spring.jpa.generate-ddl=true
spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.jdbc.lob.non_contextual_creation=true
spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.dialect = org.hibernate.dialect.PostgreSQLDialect
spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto=update
I want to handle database connection error gracefully and the application should not stop working due to failure of database connection.
I want the application to handle the error both during startup and after startup.
I'm getting following exception when my database is down:
Caused by: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: Connection to localhost:5432 refused. Check that the hostname and port are correct and that the postmaster is accepting TCP/IP connections.

In #ControllerAdvise, I tried to handle error after startup, but the exception is not getting caught:
#ControllerAdvice
public class AppAdvise {
#ResponseBody
#ExceptionHandler(PSQLException.class)
#ResponseStatus(HttpStatus.INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR)

How can I handle the connection errors both at startup and after startup?
I try to start JanusGraph and I have a problem with TinkerPop gremlin server. I try both "release (0.1.1)" and "from source (0.2.0)" versions.
When I run /bin/janusgraph.sh start there is no error but I can't connect to gremlin with my application.
When I start TinkerPop version downloaded from Apache site I have no problem with connection. I think that the problem is with a config file. The Apache version uses tinkergraph-empty.properties, the JanusGraph version: janusgraph-cassandra-es-server.properties (Of course, I want to use Cassandra).
A result of executing gremlin-server.sh with Cassandra config don't return any errors but returns warnings:

How can I start JanusGraph with Cassanda without warnings?
There is a problem with starting Cassandra which you one observe by running:
bin/nodetool enablethrift
as #Ashraful Islam suggested.
One need to uncomment following line(I set address to localhost) in conf/cassandra/cassandra-env.sh :
JVM_OPTS="$JVM_OPTS -Djava.rmi.server.hostname=127.0.0.1"
Enable Thrift server of Cassandra
Use the below command to enable thrift in cassandra
nodetool enablethrift

Error:(7, 24) java: package org.gjt.mm.mysql does not exist
The issue is that you are not able to get a connection to MYSQL database and hence it is throwing an error saying that cannot build a session factory.
Please see the error below:
Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: Access denied for user ''#'localhost' (using password: NO)
which points to username not getting populated.
Please recheck system properties
dataSource.setUsername(System.getProperty("root"));
some packages seems to be missing as well pointing to a dependency issue:
package org.gjt.mm.mysql does not exist
Please run a mvn dependency:tree command to check for dependencies
I was getting this error even when all the relevant dependencies were in place because I hadn't created the schema in MySQL.
I thought it would be created automatically but it wasn't. Although the table itself will be created, you have to create the schema.
I found some issue about that kind of error
Database username or password not match in the mysql or other other database. Please set application.properties like this
# ===============================

# Connection url for the database please let me know "mondolmislam#gmail.com"
spring.datasource.url = jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/bookstoreapiabc

spring.datasource.password =

# Hibernate ddl auto (create, create-drop, update): with "update" the database

Issue no 2.
Your local server has two database server and those database server conflict. this conflict like this mysql server & xampp or lampp or wamp server. Please one of the database like mysql server because xampp or lampp server automatically install mysql server on this machine
Got this error due to a mistake in a named query.
I had a semicolon at the end, and gave me this error.
I have postgresql 9.4 and glassfish 4.1. Besides I use MyBatis inside EJB. Now I try to make select from table and this is what I get:

I even tried the following code:
SqlSession session = ConnectionFactory.getSession().openSession(false);//AUTOCOMMIT
List list=null;
try{
session.getConnection().setAutoCommit(false);
TempMapper mapper = (TempMapper)session.getMapper(TempMapper.class);
list=mapper.readAll();
}
catch (SQLException ex) {
Logger.getLogger(TempBean.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
} finally {
session.close();
}
However the result is the same. When I used gf+mysql+mybatis I changed relaxautocommit but for postgresql driver there is no such attribute. How to solve it?
The solution: in glassfish web console open postgresql pool and at section transactions set enable to Non transactional connections.
in the glassfish management console.
