maven is not compiling test/java classes into target folder

I tried cleaning my project through maven->clean and project->clean but it didnot work. I tried changing my output folders explicitly under build path but not sure what to select for src/test/java
I also updated my testng plugin in pom.xml

Output folders for src/test/java and src/test/resources is /target/classes
and I am getting TestNG class not found in classpath error :
org.testng.TestNGException:
Cannot find class in classpath: testclass file
Earlier this code was working fine. I just tried refractoring the project by changing artifact id of maven project and from then not able to proceed.

Not sure how widely this applies, but I had success with this:
Right click > Java build path > Source
Make sure Include:(All) and Exclude:(None) is checked for all 4 folders
src/main/java
src/main/resources
src/test/java
src/test/resources

You need to add maven surefire plugin to run testNG classes. It's a miracle if you were able to run the tests earlier without this plugin. You have to add below plugin in the build phase to get going.

If you don't want to include the tests manually then by default, the Surefire Plugin will automatically include all test classes with the following wildcard patterns:

"**/*Tests.java"

I think you have to convert non-maven project to maven project
right click on project->Configure->Convert it to Maven

The issue for me was that the "Skip Tests" checkbox was checked.
RClick project -> Run As -> Run Configurations -> Maven Build (select your build configuration) -> Uncheck Skip Tests checkbox
This checkbox prevents Maven from compiling tests
If you want to compile the tests, but don't want to execute them during build process, add -DskipTests in Goals

source code project imported and configured POM.xml file as below there is no error in POM.xml file from command source project path with mvn clean install entered command then below error I can see :

you can use the flag to skip header check:
mvn install -Dlicense.skip=true

Copy the license-plugin-definition.xml file from parent directory to relevant directory.

"Full Publish" does not work for publishing Dynamic Web Project on wildfly since using Maven

Since i am using maven in my JSF Project it seems that eclipse does not support "Full publish" Button correctly anymore. I was adding maven support with right-click on Project > Configure > Convert to Maven Project...
After importing required dependencies and updating Project from pom.xml Server runs correctly but publishing changes (Java Code) takes no effect. Just cleaning whole Project and Server takes effect.

Conflict of Jackson dependencies / Tomcat

My java class throws this error when deployed on tomcat:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException:
javax.servlet.ServletException: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.fasterxml.jackson.core.JsonParser.getValueAsString()Ljava/lang/String;

When tested locally the class runs perfectly well. I understand that there might be a conflict of Jackson version, but I can't find out.

OK guys, i'm out of this nightmare. I used http://jhades.org/ to identify the overlapping jars, went into web-inf and removed old jars that were conflicting and creating the issue.
Maven is very cool but doesn't solve everything, I lost 3hours+ on this issue...

As you said on tomcat you are using a different version of jackson-core than in your build.
Find out what you use in maven with mvn help:effective-pom
Than have a look what you have packaged in your war.
Its also possible,that tomcat uses its own jackson library that makes the problem.

You have not provided extensive information about your question but I can tell you that version 2.1.0 is the first version to have the getValueAsString method. The version in your pom.xml also does have it. Older versions do not have it and this where your problem is. So according to my experience, this is clearly a problem that you have two jackson-core jar versions running and the class loaders are getting the older version first. You need to do something like:
$ find . -name "*jackson*"
in your tomcat 7 directory. Find the older version and remove it from your integration. Read the tomcat 7 webpage to know more about classloaders for your tomcat version.

I believe what you are trying to do is deploy the webapp to application server.
And to do this you are using the mvn ... deploy command.
The problem is mvn deploy is meant for deploying the output of your project (artifact) to maven repository. For example to share your classes with other co-workers.
If I'm correct you need some kind of mvn jetty:run or mvn tomcat:run command to do what you want.

Please run mvn help:effective-pom looks like you're missing <distribution> tag or <repositories> tags.
Edit: As Vitaly Polonetsky righty mentioned you should probably just build and start server. I think Jetty is embedded. So try
mvn clean install run:jetty
