I am getting a JSON which is deserialised into a POJO and I am trying to map a POJO to below entity class using modelmapper and trying to save these entities into the database.All the fields are getting mapped and saved as expected except the foreign key value which is coming as null. Also, the userid is auto generated.Can you please help me how can I save the user id in vehicle table using modelmapper??
My User Entity class
#Entity
#Table(name = "usr")
class User{
#Id
#Column(name = "user_id", updatable = false, nullable = false)
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
private Long userId;
private String username;
#OneToMany(mappedBy = "user",cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
private List<Vehicle> vehicles= new ArrayList<>();
//getters and setters
}
My Vehicles Entity Class:
#Entity
#Table(name = "vehicle")
class Vehicle{
#Id
#Column(name = "vehicle_id", updatable = false, nullable = false)
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
private Long vehicleId;
private String vehicleName;
#ManyToOne(fetch = FetchType.LAZY)
#JoinColumn(name = "user_fk" , nullable = false)
private User user;
//getters and setters
}
My ModelMapping class:
#Service
public class UserService {
#Autowired
private UserDetailsService userDetailsService;
public void saveUserDetails(UserDetails userDetails
User targetuser{
UserDetails sourcePojo= userDetails
User targetEntity= targetuser
ModelMapper modelMapper = new ModelMapper();
modelMapper.map(sourcePojo, targetEntity);
userDetailsService.save(targetEntity);
}
}
You Can try with making annotation more specific this :
#OneToMany(mappedBy = "user",
targetEntity = Vehicle.class,
cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
private List<Vehicle> vehicles= new ArrayList<>();
And
#ManyToOne(fetch = FetchType.LAZY)
#JoinColumn(name = "user_fk" ,
referencedColumnName = "user_id",
nullable = false)
private User user;
And I think you have to remove annotation for auto generation of userid
As per my understanding issue is due to Auto generation of userid is done while saving an entry to DB. But when we mapped userid to vehicle it is null as it is not generated.

I have two jpa entities User + profile with many to many relationship like below :
User Entity
#Data
#Entity
#AllArgsConstructor
#NoArgsConstructor
#Table(name = "t_user")
public class UserEntity {
#Id
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO)
#Column(name = "user_id")
private Long Id;
#Column(nullable = false)
private String username;
#Column(nullable = false, length = 14)
private String siret;
#Cascade({
org.hibernate.annotations.CascadeType.SAVE_UPDATE,
org.hibernate.annotations.CascadeType.MERGE,
org.hibernate.annotations.CascadeType.PERSIST
})
#ManyToMany(fetch = FetchType.LAZY,cascade = CascadeType.MERGE)
#JoinTable(name = "t_user_profile", joinColumns = {#JoinColumn(name = "user_id")},
inverseJoinColumns = {#JoinColumn(name = "profile_id")})
private Set<ProfileEntity> profiles = new HashSet<>();
#OneToOne(fetch = FetchType.LAZY,cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
#JoinColumn(name = "ressource_id")
private RessourceEntity ressource;
}
and Profile entity :
#Data
#Entity
#AllArgsConstructor
#NoArgsConstructor
#Table(name = "t_profile")
public class ProfileEntity {
#Id
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO)
#Column(name = "profile_id")
private Long Id;
#Column(nullable = false)
#Enumerated(EnumType.STRING)
private Profiles profile;
#ManyToMany(fetch = FetchType.LAZY, cascade = CascadeType.ALL, mappedBy = "profiles")
private Set<UserEntity> user = new HashSet<>();
}
The problem is when I send an http request contaning the same profiles with different users, I obtain new duplicated profiles records with new IDs in the Profile table in the database like below :
but the correct way is to add the informations ONLY in the joined table t_user_profile because profile already exists in profile table .
I tried cascade.All , persist and merge .... but the same result .
And if I remove cascade and i search for profile Id using findById and get the Id and insert... I got a problem when the profile is new and don't exist in DB and the problem is because I removed cascade ... So I want if the profile already exists , I want to add the relationship in the joined table ONLY.
I have an entity like Process, which will be created by , updated by one user. When I try to apply the filter. I have created the foreign key relationship in the database. Now, when I use the JPA Specification to apply dynamic filter, I am getting exception as
No property CREATED found for type Process!
#Table(name = "process")
#Entity
public class Process {
#Id
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
#Column(name = "PROCESS_ID")
#JsonProperty("id")
private Long id = null;
#NotNull
#Column(name = "NAME")
#JsonProperty("name")
private String name = null;
#Column(name = "CREATED_BY", updatable = false)
#JsonProperty("createdBy")
private Long createdBy = null;
#Column(name = "updatedBy", nullable = true)
#JsonProperty("updatedBy")
private Long updatedBy = null;
}
Hence, I Added the entity relationship mapping in the process entity as given below,
Now, I am getting below error. I am new to JPA and hibernate, the relation mapping is very confusing, kindly help.
#Table(name = "process")
#Entity
public class Process {
#Id
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
#Column(name = "PROCESS_ID")
#JsonProperty("id")
private Long id = null;
#NotNull
#Column(name = "NAME")
#JsonProperty("name")
private String name = null;
#Column(name = "CREATED_BY", updatable = false)
#JsonProperty("createdBy")
private Long createdBy = null;
#Column(name = "updatedBy", nullable = true)
#JsonProperty("updatedBy")
private Long updatedBy = null;
//newly added below properties so that there will be no error when fetching data
#OneToOne(targetEntity = UserDetails.class, fetch = FetchType.LAZY, mappedBy = "id")
private UserDetails CREATED;
#OneToOne(targetEntity = UserDetails.class, fetch = FetchType.LAZY, mappedBy = "id")
private UserDetails UPDATED;
}
Now, I am getting the below error
Referenced property not a (One|Many)ToOne: com.app.users.details.domain.UserDetails.id in mappedBy of com.app.scenarios.domain.Process.CREATED
Kindly let me know what i am doing wrong. I have a process which can be created by a user and can be updated by a user. In DB, I am having a foreign key relationship for process and userdetails entity.
EDIT
Code to get the filtered data from DB using JPA Specification
Page<process> result = this.processDao.findAll(getprocessGridData(processSearchCondition.getprocessName()), pageRequest);
private static Specification<process> getprocessGridData(String processName) {
return (Specification<process>) (root, query, criteriaBuilder) -> (
criteriaBuilder.like(root.get("name"), processName)
);
}
I guess what you actually want is this:
#Table(name = "process")
#Entity
public class Process {
#Id
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
#Column(name = "PROCESS_ID")
#JsonProperty("id")
private Long id;
#NotNull
#Column(name = "NAME")
#JsonProperty("name")
private String name;
#OneToOne(fetch = FetchType.LAZY)
#jOINColumn(name = "CREATED_BY", updatable = false)
private UserDetails createdBy;
#ManyToOne(fetch = FetchType.LAZY)
#JoinColumn(name = "UPDATED_BY", nullable = true)
private UserDetails updatedBy;
}
I would like to ignore #OnetoMany field in my entity. fetch data need to get actual fields but don't want to fire query to dependent table. But deleting data from parent table needs deletion from dependent table
I have tried #Transient that ignores but the delete is also being ignored. Is there any other option to tell JPA not to fetch data from childs table when i call the parent entity?
#Entity
Table(name = "User")
public class UserEntity implements Serializable {
#Id
#Column(name = "id")
private int id;
#Column(name = "SERIAL", unique = true, nullable = false)
private String serial;
#OneToMany(mappedBy = "serialBySerialId", cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
private Set<UserActionEntity> userActionsById;
}
#Table(name = "user_action")
public class UserActionEntity implements Serializable {
#Id
#Column(name = "id")
private int id;
#Column(name = "action")
private String action;
#ManyToOne
#JoinColumn(name = "USER_ID", referencedColumnName = "ID", nullable = false)
private UserEntity userByUserId;
If you don't want to fire query to dependent table, you can use (fetch = FetchType.LAZY) on UserActionEntity property.
#OneToMany(mappedBy = "serialBySerialId", cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch = FetchType.LAZY)
private Set<UserActionEntity> userActionsById;
I am using Postgresql for my database and it contains a table called user and a table called friendship, which has 2 foreign keys userA_id and userB_id. I know how to use mappedBy to check for friendships based on userA_id but I am not sure how to check for userB_id. Is there a way to tell hibernate to check a user ID from user table with both of columns on friendship table?
EDIT: Here is the code I currently have.
#Entity
#Table(name = "users")
public class UserDB implements Serializable {
#Id
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
#Column(name = "userid", nullable=false)
public int userID; //not null
#OneToMany (targetEntity = FriendshipDB.class, mappedBy = "userA_ID", cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch=FetchType.EAGER)
//#OneToMany (targetEntity = FriendshipDB.class, mappedBy = "userB_ID", cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch=FetchType.EAGER)
public List<FriendshipDB> friends = new ArrayList<>();
}
#Entity
#Table(name = "friendships")
public class FriendshipDB implements Serializable {
#Id
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
#Column(name = "friendshipid", nullable = false)
private int friendshipID; //not null
#ManyToOne
#JoinColumn(name="usera_id")
private UserDB userA_ID; //not null
#ManyToOne
#JoinColumn(name = "userB_id")
private UserDB userB_ID;
}
I think this is very specific mapping but the only solution I know is to go with 2 association like this:
#OneToMany(mappedBy = "user1")
private Collection<User> usersByFirst;
#OneToMany(mappedBy = "user2")
private Collection<User> usersBySecond;
I have four class; UserGroup, UserAccount, Role, UserGroupRoleRelation and my db is IBM DB2
#Entity
#Table(name = "USER_GROUP")
public class UserGroup implements Serializable {
#Id
#Column(name = "USER_GROUP_ID")
#GeneratedValue
private Long id;
......
..
#OneToMany(mappedBy = "userGroup", cascade = CascadeType.ALL, orphanRemoval = true)
private List<UserGroupRoleRelation> userAccountsRole = new ArrayList<UserGroupRoleRelation>();
}
#Entity
#Table(name = "ROLE")
public class Role implements Serializable {
#Id
#Column(name = "ROLE_ID")
#GeneratedValue
private Long id;
......
#OneToMany(mappedBy = "role")
private List<UserGroupRoleRelation> userAccountInGroup = new ArrayList<UserGroupRoleRelation>();
}
#Entity
#Table(name = "USER_GROUP_ROLE_LINE", uniqueConstraints = #UniqueConstraint(columnNames = { "ROLE_ID", "USER_GROUP_ID" }))
public class UserGroupRoleRelation {
#Id
#GeneratedValue
#Column(name = "RELATION_ID")
private Long relationId;
#ManyToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
#JoinTable(name = "USER_ACCOUNT_USER_GROUP_ROLE_LINE", joinColumns = { #JoinColumn(name = "RELATION_ID") }, inverseJoinColumns = { #JoinColumn(name = "USER_ID") }, uniqueConstraints = #UniqueConstraint(columnNames = { "USER_ID", "RELATION_ID" }))
private List<UserAccount> userAccountList = new ArrayList<UserAccount>();
#ManyToOne
#JoinColumn(name = "USER_GROUP_ID")
private UserGroup userGroup;
#ManyToOne
#JoinColumn(name = "ROLE_ID")
private Role role;
}
#Entity
#Table(name = "USER_ACCOUNT")
public class UserAccount implements Serializable {
#Id
#Column(name = "USER_ID")
#GeneratedValue
private Long id;
.....
#ManyToMany(mappedBy = "userAccountList", cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
private List<UserGroupRoleRelation> rolesInGroup = new ArrayList<UserGroupRoleRelation>();
}
I wanna find usergroups of a useraccount and i prepared a method with criteria. its like;
#Override
#Transactional
public List<UserGroup> findUserGroupOf(UserAccount userAccount) {
Criteria criteria = getSession().createCriteria(UserGroup.class);
criteria.createAlias("userAccountsRole", "userAccountsRole");
criteria.add(Restrictions.eq("userAccountsRole.userAccountList", userAccount));
return criteria.list();
}
But when i try to get result of that method, DB2 gives to me DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-313, SQLSTATE=07004, SQLERRMC=null, DRIVER=3.63.75
Probably its about creating alias on many to many relation. I dont know what should i do to create alias on many to many. How can I get result of that function?
Thank
#Override
#Transactional
public List<UserGroup> findUserGroupOf(UserAccount userAccount) {
Criteria criteria = getSession().createCriteria(UserGroup.class);
criteria.createAlias("userAccountsRole", "userAccountsRole");
criteria.createAlias("userAccountsRole.userAccountList", "userAccountList");
criteria.add(Restrictions.eq("userAccountList.id", userAccount.getId()));
return criteria.list();
}
It works for me. I mean criteria on "id". But I don't understand why I cant check equality on object instead of id when there is ManyToMany list
It is not of creating alias. You are passing an object to hibernate on which it can not make any criteria. You need to create bidirectional mapping for that.Or else if you your requirement is just to fetch the the list of UserAccountList of particular UserGroup class you can follow the below code.
#Override
#Transactional
public List<UserGroup> findUserGroupOf(long userGroupId) {
Criteria criteria = getSession().createCriteria(UserGroup.class);
criteria.add(Restrictions.eq("id",userGroupId));
criteria.createAlias("userAccountsRole", "uar");
criteria.setFetchMode("uar.userAccountList",FetchMode.JOIN);
return criteria.list();
}
