Navigation drawer force close from activity, how to fix it? - java

I have a navigation drawer that is placed on the main activity, but when I open activity main, app force closes immediately.
I combine the drawer layout attribute with activity_main.xml[Edited]

I use the image button above to programmatically open the drawer layout.

The root of your issue is the missing android:layout_gravity attribute on the NavigationView tag, so try the following

You are opening and closing the drawer simultaneously, in your code:
public void onClick(View view) {
drawerLayout.openDrawer(GravityCompat.START);
drawerLayout.closeDrawer(GravityCompat.START);
}
You first called drawerLayout.openDrawer(GravityCompat.START); and then immediately called drawerLayout.closeDrawer(GravityCompat.START);, when the programs runs, this will open the drawer and immediately closes the drawer.
What you have to do is simply remove drawerLayout.closeDrawer(GravityCompat.START);from your code above.

I am having toolbar in MainActivity. This is my fragment i want to set title, image and back button inside the toolbar. Here i am using bottom navigation to change the fragments. Each and every fragment i want to set different title and image. I have to set title as center of the toolbar and back button as right corner of the toolbar.

In your MainActivity add these lines in OnCreate() method

I'm now working on application in android studio, I'm looking for a nice menu and found the Navigation Drawer, I searched how can I create my own Navigation but I want it to be on the right side of the screen.
How can I do it?
Same Question about checkbox, I have the Checkbox on the left side and the text on the right side/ I want it to be the opposite.

Also you should close drawer using drawerLayout.closeDrawer(Gravity.RIGHT) when a recycler's item is clicked.
About CheckBox I don't know if there's any solution to switch positions of text and CB. But I wouldn't bother looking for it. I'd rather using a linearLayout containing CB & TV :)
Or maybe if I see it repetitive I create a custom view.

Android Object coming back null after onCreate

Android newbie here.
I'm trying to set an onClick event on a LinearLayout. But I keep getting the error
Attempt to invoke virtual method 'void android.widget.LinearLayout.setOnClickListener(android.view.View$OnClickListener)' on a null object reference
Which, if I understand correctly means that the reference is null. Which doesn't make sense to me since I'm calling it after onCreate

NavigationView header is usually included this way:

Since support libraries version 23.1.0 NavigationView is using a RecyclerView and the header is added as one of RecyclerView's items.
Activity's findViewById won't find the header and its internals.
To get access to it you need to get the header from NavigationView and call findViewById relative to header view:

adding an image inside navigation drawer - android

I want to add an image with a link inside a navigation drawer,
is it possible to add an image inside navigation drawer ?
I added coding like this but it is showing below error please check

Drawer Layout hamburger and toolbar not visible despite working nav drawer?

I am currently creating a navigation menu without using fragments. I've seemingly created the working system that opens classes and keeps the navigation bar present at each stage by using a BaseActivity and inheriting it into the classes that need the drawer. However upon loading the app seemingly the 3 bar 'Hamburger' icon isn't present and neither is the toolbar at the top (See photo). The navigation bar does seemingly work as I can swipe from the left and click to load other classes. I feel like my onCreate() in my BaseActivity is missing something but with googling I can't seem to find a solution.
