Move a file to a specific folder

I'm trying to move a file to a specified folder but I can't.
This is the code:
public static void moveToRightDirectory(File song, String album) throws IOException {
if(album.endsWith(" ")) {
album = album.substring(0, album.length() - 1);
}
String pathDirectory = selectedDir + "\\" + album;
File dir = new File(pathDirectory);
System.out.println("dir.exists(): " + dir.exists());
if(dir.exists()) {
Files.move(song.toPath(), dir.toPath(), StandardCopyOption.REPLACE_EXISTING );
//System.out.println(song.renameTo(dir));
}
else {
boolean success = (new File(pathDirectory)).mkdirs();
if(!success) {
System.out.println("Error creating directory.");
}
else {
Files.move(song.toPath(), dir.toPath(), StandardCopyOption.REPLACE_EXISTING );
//System.out.println(song.renameTo(dir));
//FileUtils.moveFile(song, dir);
}
}
}
I know there are other message about this (from these I was inspired) but I wasn't able to solve so I would ask for your help.
I would like to move the song file in the folder dir. To do this I have tried several methods:
Files.move -> The following errors are generated:

song.renameTo(dir) -> It does nothing.
FileUtils.moveFile(song, dir); -> Eclipse does not find FileUtils. I did the import of java.lang.Object.org.apache.commons.io.FileUtils but the error becomes "The import java.lang.Object.org can not be resolved."
How can I fix?
Thanks a lot.
Not an answer to the actual question, but, based on the error message
java.nio.file.InvalidPathException: Trailing char < > at index 55:
I'm guessing your code isn't getting rid of the trailling whitespaces properly.
Try
album = album.trim();
Instead of
if(album.endsWith(" ")) {
album = album.substring(0, album.length() - 1);
}

Maybe this will be of assistance
Step 1 : Rename File
import java.io.File;
public class MoveFileExample
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
try{
File afile =new File("C:\\folderA\\Afile.txt");
if(afile.renameTo(new File("C:\\folderB\\" + afile.getName()))){
System.out.println("File is moved successful!");
}else{
System.out.println("File is failed to move!");
}
}catch(Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
}
Step 2: Copy and delete
import java.io.File;
import java.io.FileInputStream;
import java.io.FileOutputStream;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.io.InputStream;
import java.io.OutputStream;
public class MoveFileExample
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
InputStream inStream = null;
OutputStream outStream = null;
try{
File afile =new File("C:\\folderA\\Afile.txt");
File bfile =new File("C:\\folderB\\Afile.txt");
inStream = new FileInputStream(afile);
outStream = new FileOutputStream(bfile);
byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
int length;
//copy the file content in bytes
while ((length = inStream.read(buffer)) > 0){
outStream.write(buffer, 0, length);
}
inStream.close();
outStream.close();
//delete the original file
afile.delete();
System.out.println("File is copied successful!");
}catch(IOException e){
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
}

How to read / write in application

I am trying to make a small application where when a player clicks a button it gets the values from a file, and then adds to it if the bank number is in the file and if not, makes a new bank number with the amount with it:
package application;
import java.io.File;
import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
import java.io.PrintStream;
import java.util.Scanner;
import javafx.application.Application;
import javafx.event.ActionEvent;
import javafx.fxml.FXML;
import javafx.fxml.FXMLLoader;
import javafx.stage.Stage;
import javafx.scene.Parent;
import javafx.scene.Scene;
import javafx.scene.control.TextField;
public class Main extends Application {
#Override
public void start(Stage primaryStage) {
try {
//BorderPane root = new BorderPane();
Parent root = FXMLLoader.load(getClass().getResource("Root.fxml"));
Scene scene = new Scene(root,400,400);
scene.getStylesheets().add(getClass().getResource("application.css").toExternalForm());
primaryStage.setScene(scene);
primaryStage.show();
} catch(Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
public static void main(String[] args) {
launch(args);
}
#FXML
private TextField banknumber;
#FXML
private TextField original;
#FXML
private TextField deposited;
#FXML
private TextField output;
#FXML
protected void onClick(ActionEvent event) throws FileNotFoundException{
PrintStream diskWriter = new PrintStream(new File("accounts.txt"));
Scanner diskReader = new Scanner(new File("accounts.txt"));
int origbal;
int addtobal = Integer.parseInt(deposited.getText());
String number = banknumber.getText();
if(diskReader.next().equals(number)){
origbal = diskReader.nextInt();
int newbal = origbal+addtobal;
diskWriter.println("Number: " + number + " Total: " + newbal);
}
else{
origbal = Integer.parseInt(original.getText());
int newbal = origbal+addtobal;
diskWriter.println("Number: " + number + " Total: " + newbal);
}
int newbal = origbal+addtobal;
output.setText("You have added $" + addtobal + " to bank number: " + number + "for a total of $" + newbal);
diskWriter.close();
}
}
I am getting an error though and I don't know what is wrong with it (The line numbers match up with the paste bin):

The file name you are using in the code is "accounts", not "accounts.txt". Also, I don't see a button being defined.
After fixing the path name
Now the Scanner complains (in line 54) that next() is called although there is no next token to be scanned. Normally, one calls `hasNext()? and proceeds only if this returns true.
However, the idea of writing a file and reading from it before writing has been completed (i.e., close() has been called) is a no-no.
I'm not sure what you want to achieve with your code, so I can't really suggest an improvement.
I would suggest using java.util.properties which loads properties from a file into a HashMap and allows you to pull values.
Assuming "accounts.txt" is of form
banknumber1=origbal1
banknumber2=origbal2
#FXML
protected void onClick(ActionEvent event) throws FileNotFoundException{
Properties p = new Properties();
InputStream is = new InputStream("accounts.txt");
p.load(is);
is.close();
String number = banknumber.getText();
String origbal = p.getProperty(number);
int addtobal = Integer.parseInt(deposited.getText());
if (origbal != null)
p.setProperty(number, Integer.parseInt(origbal) + addtobal);
OutputStream os = new OutputStream("accounts.txt");
p.store(os);
os.close();
}

I have resolved my question... The first thing was that I've needed to include the jar file in my classpath and the second thing that I've needed to sign the jar file.

I didn't add any dependencies to my pom.xml for the dom-parser. The SAME CODE is running in an other project, the only difference is, that the project, from which I got the exception is a maven-project. If I comment out the line, I got the exception on an other class which saves an other xml-file. So I think is is not a problem with tomcat?
Has anyone an idea? :/
Thanks in advance!
In your standalone project without maven did you include any jars/imports? If the same exact code is working there, but then not in maven it would lead me to believe you have a dependency error.
Try adding this dependency to your pom.xml: xercesImpl.jar
<dependency>
<groupId>xerces</groupId>
<artifactId>xercesImpl</artifactId>
<version>2.11.0</version>
</dependency>

Need assistance setting up a class to send email, it gets called from the main class

I am trying to send an email from my application when a user logs in for the first time. The email consists of a activation code.
Update: I downloaded the latest javamail API and also the latest JAF (JavaBeans Activation Framework) and it does not compile due to imports being unknown symbols. How do I import from the javax package?
Here is the code that I got so far:
import java.util.ArrayList;
import javax.mail.Message;
import javax.mail.MessagingException;
import javax.mail.Session;
import javax.mail.Transport;
import javax.mail.internet.AddressException;
import javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress;
import javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage;
public class Email {
static String smtpHost;
static int smtpPort;
static String from;
static String to;
static String subject;
static String content;
public Email(String toEmail, String code){
smtpHost = "localhost";
smtpPort = 25;
from = "admin#Nestroia.com";
to = toEmail;
subject = "Hello from Nestroia.com";
content = "This is your activation code: " + code;
}
public Email(String toEmail, String name, String password){
smtpHost = "localhost";
smtpPort = 25;
from = "admin#Nestroia.com";
to = toEmail;
subject = "Hello from Nestroia.com";
content = "This is your Login information.\n"
+ "Name: " + name + "\n"
+ "Password: " + password;
}
public static void send() throws AddressException, MessagingException {
// Create a mail session
java.util.Properties props = new java.util.Properties();
props.put("mail.smtp.host", smtpHost);
props.put("mail.smtp.port", ""+smtpPort);
Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null);
// Construct the message
Message msg = new MimeMessage(session);
msg.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from));
msg.setRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, new InternetAddress(to));
msg.setSubject(subject);
msg.setText(content);
// Send the message
Transport.send(msg);

I'm guessing you probably have just the javaee.jar in your classpath, which has the definitions of the javax.mail.* classes but not the actual implementation.
You should download the javamail api if you dont already have. Found here
You're running with a javaee.jar that does not contain implementations. It's a "stubbed" implementation that is just intended to enable compilation, not execution. This post provides more details. (It's referring to Java EE 5, but the same holds true for 6.)
This post provides explanation and possible solution. You might need to adjust your class path.
