Java 11
I have a very basic Spring Boot application that I would like to build and deploy the artifacts on a Nexus sever.
mvn clean deploy (from my local Win 10 machine - WORKS !!!)
mvn clean deploy (from Nexus machine - FAILS ????)
mvn clean deploy (from Jenkins - FAILS ????)
When I run mvn clean deploy command from my local Win 10 machine all the artifacts get deployed successfully on remote Nexus server and I can even see and browse them.
But when I clone the project and run mvn clean deploy on the very same machine where both Nexus and Jenkins (Ubuntu box) are installed it gives me Not authorized error.
I have already copied over BOTH settings.xml and settings-security.xml from my local Windows machine to Ubuntu (~/.m2) where Nexus is installed.
I have disabled the firewalls as well just to be sure that no ports are blocked.
I am confused how the artifacts are getting copied over from a remote machine but not from the same machine.

mvn clean deploy (from Nexus machine - FAILS ????)
Are you sure you're running mvn clean deploy from the same user under whose $HOME/.m2 directory you've copied the settings.xml and settings-security.xml files?
Also, did you try adding the password directly to settings.xml to rule out issues (if any) with settings-security.xml?
P.S: Avoid running mvn commands with sudo privilege.
I am attempting to release a Mule domain using the mule-domain-maven-plugin. I've noticed when invoking install, that the main *.zip artifact is installed, followed by the *.pom, followed by a second copy of the *.zip:
[INFO] --- maven-install-plugin:2.5.2:install (default-install) # esb-common ---
[INFO] Installing /Users/chase/git/dn2k/dn2k-esb/esb-common/target/esb-common-2.6.7.0.zip to /Users/chase/.m2/repository/com/dn2k/esb-common/2.6.7.0/esb-common-2.6.7.0.zip

A bit odd, perhaps, but harmless.
However, when attempting to release, a similar sequence is followed. First the main *.zip artifact is uploaded to Nexus, then the *.pom, then maven-metadata.xml, then finally a second copy of the main *.zip artifact:

^^^^ ERRORS OUT ^^^^
On this second upload, Nexus balks, as we have it configured to disallow multiple uploads of the same released artifact.
In the source code for the plugin, line 88 identifies the zip file as the main artifact, and just one line above identifies that same file as an attachment. This double identification is what causes the maven-install-plugin to do the double copy to the ~/.m2/repository as shown above.
Is this a bug, or am I failing to configure the plugin correctly? Does anyone have an example of a successful release using the mule-domain-maven-plugin?
Here's the pom for the esb-common (domain) project (version managed to 1.1 for the plugin):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

I have no Tomcat users set in the pom because in my Tomcat configuration I don't have any users and need to kept it that way.
When I manually copy the war into the tomcat folder "webapps" it deploy with no issue.
I don't know what is missing... and I have try the followings with no result
Error while deploying to Tomcat: tomcatManager status code:404, ReasonPhrase:Not Found
tomcatManager status code:404, ReasonPhrase:Not Found
Ok after a lot of research I found a way to deploy my project with Tomcat7 Maven Plugin.
It's as simple as running the goal mvn tomcat7:run-war
The only downside is that it use it own embedded Tomcat server
I leave the documentation here
already found lots of entries here to fix my issue, but all did not work. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong... I always receive an 403 on tomcat.
I'm using Apache Tomcat Version 7.0.32

<!-- profiles
| This is a list of profiles which can be activated in a variety of ways, and which can modify
| the build process. Profiles provided in the settings.xml are intended to provide local machine-
| specific paths and repository locations which allow the build to work in the local environment.
|
| For example, if you have an integration testing plugin - like cactus - that needs to know where
| your Tomcat instance is installed, you can provide a variable here such that the variable is
| dereferenced during the build process to configure the cactus plugin.
|
| As noted above, profiles can be activated in a variety of ways. One way - the activeProfiles
| section of this document (settings.xml) - will be discussed later. Another way essentially
| relies on the detection of a system property, either matching a particular value for the property,
| or merely testing its existence. Profiles can also be activated by JDK version prefix, where a
| value of '1.4' might activate a profile when the build is executed on a JDK version of '1.4.2_07'.
| Finally, the list of active profiles can be specified directly from the command line.
|
| NOTE: For profiles defined in the settings.xml, you are restricted to specifying only artifact
| repositories, plugin repositories, and free-form properties to be used as configuration
| variables for plugins in the POM.
|
|-->
<profiles>
<!-- profile
| Specifies a set of introductions to the build process, to be activated using one or more of the
| mechanisms described above. For inheritance purposes, and to activate profiles via <activatedProfiles/>
| or the command line, profiles have to have an ID that is unique.
|
| An encouraged best practice for profile identification is to use a consistent naming convention
| for profiles, such as 'env-dev', 'env-test', 'env-production', 'user-jdcasey', 'user-brett', etc.
| This will make it more intuitive to understand what the set of introduced profiles is attempting
| to accomplish, particularly when you only have a list of profile id's for debug.
|
| This profile example uses the JDK version to trigger activation, and provides a JDK-specific repo.
<profile>
<id>jdk-1.4</id>

<jdk>1.4</jdk>

| Here is another profile, activated by the system property 'target-env' with a value of 'dev',

When executing
mvn -X tomcat:deploy I see following debug output that may the rootcause:
[DEBUG] Configuring mojo 'org.codehaus.mojo:tomcat-maven-plugin:1.1:deploy' with basic configurator -->
[DEBUG] (f) charset = ISO-8859-1
[DEBUG] (f) contextFile = /home/pi/Maven/homeserver/homeserver-1.0/META-INF/context.xml
[DEBUG] (f) ignorePackaging = false
[DEBUG] (f) mode = war
[DEBUG] (f) packaging = war
[DEBUG] (f) path = /homeserver
[DEBUG] (f) update = false
[DEBUG] (f) url = http://localhost:8080/manager
[DEBUG] (f) version = 1.1
[DEBUG] (f) warFile = /home/pi/Maven/homeserver/homeserver-1.0.war
[DEBUG] -- end configuration --
[INFO] Deploying war to http://localhost:8080/homeserver
[DEBUG] No server specified for authentication - using defaults
I already used in pom.xml
<url>http://localhost:8080/manager/html</url>
that also did not change anything
Does anyone has an idea what is wrong here?
thanks in advance & Kind regards
EDIT:
First thanks for replies I tried all ways but without success.
I now configured my Windows PC for Maven. Even with the changed POM:
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.tomcat.maven</groupId>
<artifactId>tomcat7-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.1</version>
<configuration>
<server>TomcatServer</server>
<url>http://192.168.34.252:8080/manager/text</url>
<path>/mycontext</path>
</configuration>
</plugin>
its still trying to deploy to localhost:
[DEBUG] Configuring mojo 'org.codehaus.mojo:tomcat-maven-plugin:1.1:deploy' with basic configurator -->
[DEBUG] (f) charset = ISO-8859-1
[DEBUG] (f) contextFile = C:\temp\homeserver\homeserver-1.0\META-INF\context.xml
[DEBUG] (f) ignorePackaging = false
[DEBUG] (f) mode = war
[DEBUG] (f) packaging = war
[DEBUG] (f) path = /homeserver
[DEBUG] (f) update = false
[DEBUG] (f) url = http://localhost:8080/manager
[DEBUG] (f) version = 1.1
[DEBUG] (f) warFile = C:\temp\homeserver\homeserver-1.0.war
[DEBUG] -- end configuration --
[INFO] Deploying war to http://localhost:8080/homeserver
[DEBUG] No server specified for authentication - using defaults
So it seems that it has sth. to do with the pom...
I found the solution. I used the wrong goal. Correct would have been
mvn tomcat7:deploy instead of tomcat:deploy
(target definitions of plugin)
By devining that goal maven did not take my tomcat7-maven-plugin.
Just RTFM...
thanks for you help
First of all, http://localhost:8080/manager is a default tomcat management app; so you may not want to clash your webapp with that.
Check here http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-4.1-doc/manager-howto.html:
There are three ways to use the Manager web application.
As an application with a user interface you use in your browser. Here
is an example URL where you can replace localhost with your website
host name: http://localhost/manager/html/ .
2nd, you do not need to mention the URL in the pom, in order to fix a URL. Generally, after deployment the URL would be:
http://<your_server_name>/<webapp-name>/<welcome page>
where webapp-name is usually the war-file-name-without-extension and welcome page is whatever defined in web.xml. In the absence of welcome file name, you need to mention the resource/URL with relative path to app home directory.
According to the tomcat7-maven-plugin usage docs, you probably don't need to define a url, as the default (http://localhost:8080/manager) should be proper.
More importantly, you'll need to use the same server name for the pom.xml server field as you do in the settings.xml server>id field to use your login credentials.
Also, if you haven't already, you'll need to install the manager portion of Tomcat as it isn't part of the default install. (run: apt-get install tomcat7-admin)
For me the solution was to set the URL without the /text at the end of the url.
<url>http://localhost:8081/manager</url>
Note I'm using port 8081 here.
I'm having trouble running the gae:debug goal of the Maven GAE Plugin. The error I'm receiving is below. Any ideas?
I'm running it with "mvn gae:debug".
[INFO] Packaging webapp

EDIT: gae:run with the jvmFlags option is also giving me the same result with the below configuration.
<plugin>
<groupId>net.kindleit</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-gae-plugin</artifactId>
<version>0.5.0</version>
<configuration>
<jvmFlags>
<jvmFlag>-Xdebug</jvmFlag>
<jvmFlag>-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=8000</jvmFlag>
</jvmFlags>
</configuration>
</plugin>
It looks like this is an open issue. I have submitted a patch for this (see Issue 38).
